The 2nd track on the album is “The Cork Oak.” To listen to The Cork Oak
A soothing song for a harsh moment in the life of a Cork Oak.
Una canción relajante durante un momento difícil en la vida de un alcornoque.
The Cork Oak was the first idea which came into this album project. As Paul began working with Fernando Pessoa’s writing, Miguel felt the humble, intimate and discreet sound of a single instrument would form a poetic approach to melodies and harmonies. He began a piano piece on the plains of Alentejo, the atmospheric dotted by Cork Oaks. These beautiful trees are the worldwide source material of cork for wine bottles. Miguel feels a close relation to trees so seeing them with all their skin ripped off was a painful image, yet the whole landscape was dry and peaceful.
